Hi, I’m Savannah!
I am a Certified Birth Boot Camp Instructor serving mothers and families throughout the Twin Cities and surrounding areas. My husband and I recently moved to Minneapolis, and I’m excited to discover my new favorite running trails, lakes, and libraries here in Minnesota. I originally grew up in South Carolina, and I love backpacking, watercolor painting, and playing the guitar.
Why I teach Birth Education
I have always enjoyed learning about women’s health, but it wasn’t until I took a Women’s Health course during my undergraduate studies that I first considered a career in birth work. When I discovered Birth Boot Camp’s instructor training program, I knew it was the right fit for me. Their evidence-based curriculum perfectly aligned with my teaching style and my passion for education.
While earning my undergraduate degree in Human Development, with an emphasis in Biological Foundations, I learned the importance of creating an environment that supports a baby’s healthy development. However, I believe you can create this environment even before the baby is born! It starts with building a foundation of knowledge that empowers you to make informed decisions and learning how to stay calm and confident when challenges arise.
I love teaching about physiological birth, but I will never pressure you toward a particular choice. You know yourself best, and I believe you have the ability to make the right decisions for your family. My goal is to support and encourage you every step of the way. I strive to create a trusting, welcoming space where you feel informed, supported, and confident as you prepare to welcome your baby. Hope to see you there soon!

The best time to take a childbirth class is during the beginning of your third trimester, ideally between 28 and 34 weeks of pregnancy. This gives you plenty of time to learn, practice comfort techniques, and prepare for labor without feeling rushed.
That said, it's never too early—or too late—to invest in your birth education! Many families choose to take a class earlier so they have more time to prepare, while others join closer to their due date. If your due date is approaching, my one-day workshops and express classes are a great way to gain practical tools and confidence in a shorter amount of time.

Not at all! The classes are designed for families planning all types of births, whether you're hoping for an unmedicated birth, planning to use an epidural, or simply want to understand your options.
You'll learn how labor works, practical comfort measures, relaxation techniques, and ways your birth partner can provide support throughout labor. Even if you choose pain medication, these tools can help you cope during early labor, stay relaxed, and feel more confident throughout the birth process.
My goal isn't to tell you what kind of birth you should have. Instead, I want to equip you with evidence-based information so you can make informed decisions and feel prepared for whatever path your birth takes.

Birth is a team experience, and your partner plays an important role in supporting you throughout labor and birth. A childbirth class gives your partner the knowledge and confidence to be an active part of the process rather than simply watching from the sidelines.
Together, you and your partner will learn how labor works, practice comfort measures, explore ways to provide physical and emotional support, and discuss how to work together through each stage of birth. Your partner will leave with practical tools and a better understanding of how to advocate for you, encourage you, and help create a positive birth environment.
